Do I still need a website if my business has Instagram or Facebook?

Short answer

Yes. Instagram and Facebook are good for showing new posts, but search engines and AI assistants find businesses mainly through readable website text. A simple website gives one permanent page with your prices, location, hours and contact buttons that Google, ChatGPT and customers can read without logging in.

Why is social media not enough for a small business?

Social media posts are built for scrolling, not for answering questions. Prices, opening hours and service areas get buried under new posts, and some pages need a login to read. A website keeps the key facts in one place that stays the same until you change it.

Customers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI for things like the best tuition centre nearby. These answers are assembled from public web pages with clear text. A business with only an Instagram account gives the AI very little readable information to quote.

What should a small business website include?

A small business website should state what you sell, where you are, when you are open and how to contact you, all in plain text.

  • Business name, area and full address
  • Products or services with prices
  • Opening hours
  • WhatsApp, call and map buttons
  • A few real photos and short answers to common questions

Should my website replace my Instagram page?

No. A website and Instagram do different jobs and work best together. Instagram shows what is new; the website holds the facts that rarely change. Link to the website from your Instagram bio, and link back to Instagram from the website.

Common questions

Can Google show my Instagram posts in search results?

Sometimes, but rarely for the questions customers actually ask, such as prices or opening hours. Google prefers pages with clear text and structured business details, which a simple website provides and a social profile usually does not.

Is a one-page website enough for a small shop?

Yes, for most single-location shops and services. A One-Pager can hold your services, prices, photos, hours, map and WhatsApp button. Krokodail builds one for RM 1,200 and delivers it in 24 hours.

Will a website help people find me on Google Maps?

A website supports your Google Business Profile, which is what powers Google Maps. Linking the profile to a website with the same name, address and phone number gives Google more consistent information about the business.
